Series History: 42 meetings, Appalachian State leads 23-19
The series between Marshall and Appalachian State dates all the way back to Jan. 24, 1981, and the Herd's days in the Southern Conference. The Mountaineers won the first meeting 61-59. Starting in the 1982-83 season the teams met at least twice a year all the way through 1996-97.
