COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Marshall men's basketball was defeated by the Texas A&M Aggies, 92-68, Saturday (Dec. 22) at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas.
The Herd fall to 7-5 with the loss as the Aggies move to 6-4 with the win.
Senior guards Rondale Watson and C.J. Burks led the Herd with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Both players went six of 14 from the field.
Sophomore forward Jannson Williams led Marshall with eight rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots. Burks had a team-high two steals, while senior guard Jon Elmore dished out a team-high four assists.
The Herd struggled from the field to open first half making just two of 10 shots from the field and missing its first six attempts from beyond the arc. Marshall proceeded to knock down 10 of its next 23 attempts and five of 10 from three-point range to end the half.
The Aggies shot 45.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range in the first half. Texas A&M took the paint 26-12 at the half and led 41-33.
Texas A&M continued its hot shooting into the second half as it put up a 61.3 shooting percentage in the final half to Marshall's 34.2 percent.
The Aggies had five players in double-figure scoring, with Josh Nebo contributing 16 off the bench while going seven of seven from the field and making both of his free-throw attempts.
Marshall committed fewer turnovers than Texas A&M 10-15.
