Herd Track and Field To Begin Outdoor Season Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-Marshall track and field begins the outdoor portion of its 2018 season Friday, March 16 at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Herd athletes begin competition on Friday at 11 a.m. with Reneese Batson, Ericka Budd, and Hasana Clark set to compete in the hammer throw.
Running events begin at noon Friday with Sarah Bever, Hannah Carreon, and Taylor Robinson set to compete in the 100 meter hurdles.
The hammer throw and 100 meter hurdles are two of several events that will competed in for the first time this year by Marshall athletes as they are only competed in during outdoor season. The 100 meter dash, 400 meter hurdles, 4x100 meter relay, discus throw, and javelin throw will be additionally competed in for the first time this season.
Junior javelin thrower Heidi Heiniger competes for the first time this year at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday. Heiniger is the only returning Herd athlete that qualified for the NCAA East Regional Meet last season.
Heiniger is the first scheduled Herd athlete to compete on Saturday. The first running event on Saturday is the 4x100 meter relay set for noon.
