Herd Concludes First Outdoor Meet At Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Marshall track and field finished its first outdoor meet of the 2018 season at the highly competitive 49er Classic hosted by Conference USA opposition Charlotte.
The Herd recorded six top-10 finishes on the final day of competition. Following six top-10 results on Friday, Marshall recorded 12 top-10 performances over the course of the meet.
Junior Melany Belot finished first out of 47 competitors to win the triple jump with a top jump of 12.21 meters (40 feet, 0.75 inches).
Freshman Brandy Elysee recorded the second fastest outdoor 200 meter time in school history with a time of 24.24. She finished fifth out of 124 sprinters in the competition.
Sophomore Ericka Budd threw the fifth best mark in school history in the shot put with a top throw of 13.64 meters (44 feet 9 inches). She finished seventh in the event.
Junior Heidi Heiniger began her 2018 season with an eighth place finish and best throw of 41.07m (134 ft. 9 in.) in the javelin throw.
The two relay events that Marshall entered teams in recorded top-10 finishes. The 4x400 meter relay team of Christianna Dogan, Breanna Hargrove, Talor Wilkerson, and Danere'a White finished seventh with a time of 3:51.51.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Talor Wilkerson, Brandy Elysee, Hannah Carreon, and Kayla Haywood finished eighth with a time of 47.55.

Shot Put: Ericka Budd (7th-13.64m/44 ft. 9 in.)
