HERD HEADS TO SAN ANTONIO TO TAKE ON THE ROADRUNNERS

SAN ANTONIO, TX-The Thundering Herd baseball team will travel to Roadrunner Field this weekend for a C-USA matchup with UTSA (8-10). Marshall (11-6) will be looking to get back over .500 in conference play after winning one of three in its conference opener against UAB. Game one will take place Friday at 7 p.m., Game two will be Saturday at 3 p.m., and the series finale will be an early one, taking place Sunday at 11 a.m.

Friday vs. UTSA LHP Joshua Shapiro (1-1 6.57 ERA) vs. RHP Karan Patal (1-1 3.92 ERA)

Saturday vs. UTSA RHP Brad O'Connor (2-2 3.58 ERA) vs. LHP Steven Dressler (2-1 2.76 ERA)

Sunday vs. UTSA RHP Will Ray (2-0 0.85 ERA) vs. RHP Chance Kirby (1-2 3.00 ERA)


HAVE YOU HERD?

-- Pitcher Joshua Shapiro will appear in his first start of the season Friday after ace Wade Martin went down with an injury in Game one against UAB.

-- Shane Hanon holds a team-high .387 batting average, 24 hits, and 14 walks for the Herd in 16 games this season. His .508 on base percentage ranks him top 50 in the nation.

--After his complete game shutout of UAB Sunday, Will Ray tied teammate Brad O'Connor for fourth in the nation in complete games.

--Freshman Jaren Lovely earned the first hit of his collegiate career in Saturday's matchup against the Blazers.


SCOUTING UTSA

-- Brian Arias leads the Roadrunners with a .297 batting average, 22 hits, and 13 runs.

--Four different players are tied with a team-high four stolen bases each, meaning there is danger of a steal no matter who is on the base paths for UTSA.

--The Roadrunners are just 1-6 when scoring less than two runs this season. When scoring in the first inning they are a perfect 5-0.

--UTSA has four pitchers that have thrown more than 20 strikeouts this season.
