HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team announced its summer camp schedule Monday with dates set for June and July. The Thundering Herd will host a Men's Elite ID Camp on June 15 and July 27, World Cup Soccer Summer Day Camps from on June 25-29 and July 16-20 and a Striker/Goalie Camp on July 28-29.

The one day Elite ID Camp is for those high school level players with ambitions to play collegiate soccer for the Herd, or for those just looking to take their game to the next level. Don't miss this opportunity to work first hand with the Marshall coaching staff at the tremendous Hoops Family Field. Spend two sessions on the field demonstrating your ability for the next level, while taking in Coach Grassie's tactical vision for the Herd Men's Soccer team. These opportunities don't come around often, so register today to hold your spot.
"ID camps are an integral part of our overall recruiting strategy," Herd head coach Chris Grassie said. "It's a great way for us to identify players that we may not have already seen on our recruiting travels, or to see a player we have recruited a final time before inviting them onto our team. It's also a way for us to work on the pitch with campers to see if they have the qualities as players and as people to make it in our program.
"Over the last few years we have added four players to our roster who have come through this process. We run the entire day with the sole intent to assess campers' ability to play at the college level."
The Marshall Soccer World Cup Day Camps is designed for all those young soccer stars looking to take in Herd soccer as well as World Cup 2018 fever for a whole week. Come ready to play fun games with World Cup pride on the line, watch the official World Cup games in our locker rooms and compete for prizes. This type of camp only comes around every four years, so why not spend your World Cup with Marshall's World Class Staff.
"Obviously 2018 is a special year with the World Cup taking place," coach Grassie said. "We want these camps to harness the energy and enthusiasm of the World Cup to create a fun and soccer nourishing environment here at Hoops Family Field. As well as providing a structured soccer curriculum, we hope to imbue your kids with the joy and passion for the game."
The Marshall Soccer Striker/Goalkeeper camp is a late summer tradition for all players of all ages in West Virginia and beyond. Spend an action packed weekend playing an attacking style and finishing games with the goalkeepers. Because of the popularity, there is a limit of campers the team can take, so make sure to reserve your spot today.
"The GK-Striker Camp focuses on the business ends of the game, scoring goals, and stopping goals," coach Grassie said. "It's a day that is fast paced, and filled with all the secrets to success that our coaches have gathered in their years in the game. Whether you want to learn how to hit the top corner like Kevin De Bruyne, or dribble and finish like Leo Messi, or fly through the air like Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver a bullet header, this is your camp.
"Conversely, if you want to learn how to read a strikers body language so you can deny their opportunity, or you want to command your box like Manuel Neuer, or you want to have reflexes like David De Gea, this is the camp for you."
