Herd to Compete at Historic Penn Relays

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-Marshall track and field begins competition Thursday at the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The meet is the largest and oldest track and field competition in the United States. The first Penn Relays were held in 1895.

A season ago at the Penn Relays, Herd athletes broke the school's distance medley relay and shuttle hurdle relay records. This season, the Herd will compete in four total relay events.

Elena Marchand begins competition for Marshall athletes Thursday at 9 a.m. in the discus throw. Herd athletes are scheduled to compete in 10 events Thursday and six events Friday. A full list of scheduled events featuring Thundering Herd athletes can be found below.
