O'Malley Named to Baseball Rules Committee

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Associate Athletic Director Jeff O’Malley has been added to the nine-member NCAA Baseball Rules Committee. O’Malley, the athletic department’s Chief of Staff, will serve on the committee for one year.
The NCAA Baseball Rules Committee has four Division I members, two representatives from Division II and two members from Division III. A ninth member is appointed as the group’s secretary-rules editor. O’Malley is one of two members from FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) schools, joining East Carolina Assistant Athletic Director Gary Overton.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the baseball rules committee,” O’Malley said. “This an opportunity to positively impact an already great game.”
O’Malley, who is in his 15th year at Marshall, previously served on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Rules Committee.
Mike Hamrick, Director of Athletics at Marshall, has been reappointed to the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee, it was announced this month. Hamrick has served on the committee since July 2016, and will serve a term that runs through June 30, 2022.
Marshall President Jerome A. Gilbert has also been selected to represent Conference USA on the NCAA Division I Presidential Forum, a term that begins Sept. 1 and runs through Aug. 31, 2022.
Conference USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod was named to the NCAA Division I Council and NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee this month. The Division I Council is responsible for the day-to-day decision-making for Division I membership.
