HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—Marshall cross country/track and field head coach Jeff Small announced Friday the addition of 16 athletes to the program for the 2018-19 school year.
The signees include six men who will run cross country in the fall for the Thundering Herd. 10 women join the program, including three women who will run cross country in addition to competing on the track in the winter and spring.

Of the seven non-distance female track and field athletes, four will compete in sprints, hurdles, and jumps. Two will join the throwing squad, and one will compete in the pole vault for Marshall.

"We are really excited about this class," Small said. "Several of these girls can come in and score in their events both on the track and in the field at the Conference USA Championships. We also added some significant depth with this group for both our men's and women's cross country teams."

Seven of the 15 athletes come to Marshall from the state of Ohio. Five athletes stay in-state from West Virginia. Three members of the 2018-19 signing class are from Florida, including a pair of high school teammates. The final new member is an international athlete and joins the Herd from France.
A look at the 2018-19 cross country/track and field signees (listed in alphabetical order):

Men's Cross Country:
Nathaniel Abbott – (River Valley Bidwell High School; Bidwell, Ohio) – Was a four-time cross country regional qualifier and a State Track Meet qualifier in 2008 in the 800 meter run…was a three-time First Team All-Tri Valley Conference member in both cross country and track…holds a personal best 5K time of 16:41.09 and best 800m time of 1:57.15.

Christian Bradford – (Lancaster High School; Lancaster, Ohio) – Was a Division I cross country State Meet qualifier his senior season and a regional qualifier in the 3200 meter run…is a two-time First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference member…holds a personal best 5K time of 16:18.77 and a best 3200 meter run time of 9:54.33.

Ian Domenick – (Parkersburg High School; Parkersburg, West Virginia) – Was a three-time Class AAA State Meet qualifier in cross country where he earned First Team All-State in 2017 for his sixth place finish…was a five-time qualifier for the State Meet in track between the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m…was the 2018 Class AAA State Champion in the 1600m…holds a personal best 5K time of 16:08.18 and a best 1600m time of 4:21.68.

Andrew Jones – (Morgantown High School; Morgantown, West Virginia) – Was a three-time Class AAA State Meet qualifier in cross country where he earned First Team All-State in 2017 for his 10th place finish…was a 2018 State Meet qualifier in track in the 3200m…he is a two-time First-Team All-OVAC…holds a 5K personal record of 16:07.76 and a 3200m best time of 9:56.45.

Milan Seiber – (North Ridgeville High School; North Ridgeville, Ohio) – Was a two-time regional qualifier in cross country…has earned First Team All-Southwestern Conference honors in cross country and twice First Team All-Southwestern Conference honors in track…holds a 5K personal record of 16:27.90 and a best 3200m time of 9:44.95.

Ryan Vaught – (Woodrow Wilson High School; Beckley, West Virginia) – Was a four-time Class AAA State Meet qualifier in cross country where he earned First Team All-State honors with his third place finish at the meet his senior year…is a five-time State Meet qualifier in track including earning All-State honors in the 2018 3200m run…holds a personal best 5K time of 15:53.01 and a best 3200m time of 9:39.72.

Women's Cross Country & Track and Field
Alexandra Evans – (Unioto High School; Chillicothe, Ohio) – Was a three-time Ohio Indoor State Meet qualifier in the 3200 meter run, a State Meet qualifier in cross country, and a three-time regional qualifier in outdoor track in the 1600m and 3200m…holds a personal best 5K time of 18:31.30, 3200m time of 11:22.57, and 1600m time of 5:17.01.

Madelyn Garrison – (Washington High School; Washington Court House, Ohio) – Was a two-time Ohio State Meet qualifier in cross country, a two-time Ohio State Meet qualifier in outdoor track in the 1600 meter run, and an indoor track State Meet qualifier in the 3200m…holds a personal best 5K time of 18:06.73, best 1600m time of 5:14.29,
PR 3200m time of 11:31.85, and has experience in the 2K Steeplechase and holds a personal best of 8:09.18.

Myah McAlister – (Morgantown High School; Morgantown, West Virginia) – Was a four-time Class AAA State Meet qualifier…earned First Team All-State cross country honors in 2016 and Second Team All-State honors in 2017…was a 2017 State Meet qualifier in the 800 meter run…was a member of the 2017 & 2018 State Championship
​​​​​​4x800m Teams…holds a best 5K cross country time of 19:16.00, best 800m time of 2:29.80, and best 3200m time of 12:33.11.

Women's Track and Field
Maryann Adebayo – (Hedgesville High School; Hedgesville, West Virginia) – Will compete in throws for the Thundering Herd…was the 2018 West Virginia Class AAA State Champion in the shot put…finished fourth in the discus throw at the State Meet her senior season…holds a shot put personal record of 41 feet, 5.5 inches…holds a discus throw personal record of 114 feet, 5 inches.

​​​​​​​Macie Majoy – (Huron High School; Huron, Ohio) – Will compete in pole vault for Marshall…was the Ohio State Champion in the indoor pole vault her senior season…was a three-time Outdoor State Meet qualifier including finishing Runner-Up her senior season in the pole vault…qualified for the New Balance Nationals her senior season in the pole vault to compete among the best high school pole vaulters in the country… holds a personal record of 12 feet in the indoor pole vault and 12 feet, 7 inches in the outdoor pole vault.

Erica Murphy – (St. Thomas Aquinas High School; Fort Lauderdale, Florida) – Will compete in sprints for the Herd…was a three-time FHSAA Class 4A State Finals qualifier in the 400 meter dash…she finished seventh in the 4A State Finals in the 400m dash…was part of the FHSAA 4A State Championship 4x400m relay team…was a 2017 qualifier for the Flo Golden South Classic…holds personal records of 12.56 seconds in the 100 meter dash, 25.29 seconds in the 200 meter dash, and 55.50 seconds in the 400 meter dash.

Sylvia Terente – (Stade Renaissance Athletics; Le Faou, France) – Will compete in the javelin throw for Marshall…holds a personal record of 45.87 meters (150 feet, 5 inches) in the javelin throw where she won the Murcia Spanish U20 Championships…additionally has competed in the past in multi-events in both the heptathlon and pentathlon.

​​​​​​​Ashonti Warner (Hallandale High School; Hallandale, Florida) – Will compete in hurdles for the Thundering Herd…ran the 33rd fastest 300 meter hurdles time in the United States with her personal record of 42.49 in the event…was the 2018 FHSAA Class 2A 300mH Runner-Up…was part of the FHSAA 2A 4x400m relay winning team…was a 2017 Flo Golden South Qualifier in the 400mH where she finished third…holds a personal best 400mH time of 1:02.97 and best 100mH time of 14.53.

​​​​​​​Takira Williams (Hallandale High School; Hallandale, Florida) – Will compete in jumps/hurdles for Marshall…was a two-time FHSAA Class 2A State Champion in the triple jump her junior and senior seasons…was the 56th best triple jumper in the country with her personal record of 39 feet, 8 inches…holds a long jump personal record of 19 ft. 3 in. and was a 2018 State Meet finalist in the event, finishing fifth…also finished fifth in the 300 meter hurdles at the State Meet…holds a 300mH record of 43.53.

​​​​​​​Torie Young – (Hayes High School; Delaware, Ohio) – Will compete in sprints for the Herd…was a three-time qualifier for Ohio State Meets her senior season…finished fifth at the Indoor State Meet in the 400 meter dash…finished eighth in the 400m at the Outdoor State Meet…additionally qualified for the Indoor State Meet in the 60m dash…holds a personal record of 25.59 in the 200m and 56.72 in the 400m.
