WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Marshall women's soccer team's season-opening road swing continues on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Army Black Nights.

Fans can tune in to the live video stream through Watch Stadium.

"The team is excited to play at Army on Sunday," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "The history and respect this campus deserves and has earned over the years makes this a special road game for us all. With that said, the second half of this road trip will be focused on getting a good result on Sunday and moving us one step closer to achieving what we need by the time conference play comes around."

Marshall played a tight match this past Thursday at Fairleigh Dickinson in the one-goal loss. The Herd outshot FDU 9-8 and kept the Knights' top goal-scorers quiet. Freshman Christa Waterman scored her first career goal with a header from a few yards outside the goal in the 76th minute. Herd junior keeper Megan Bonelli recorded four saves in the loss. Senior Ashley Seltzer had two shots with one on goal. Junior Marah Abu-Tayeh recorded two shots, both on goal.

Army scored twice in the second half of its season-opening win at Wagner. The first goal came from sophomore Erynn Johns in the 65th minute and was followed four minutes later by freshman Lauren Stovar. Sophomore keeper Sydney Cassalia had three saves in the shutout. The Black Knights finished the 2017 season 4-11-2 and 2-6-1 in the Patriot League.

Following the match against Army, the Herd returns home for its first match at Hoops Family Field on Friday, Aug. 24. Marshall will take on the University of Tennessee-Martin at 4:30 p.m., as part of a Marshall soccer doubleheader. The men's soccer team will then take on Duquesne at 7 p.m.
