Men’s Soccer to face Ohio State Friday in the Dayton Tournament

DAYTON, Ohio – The Marshall men's soccer team is on the road for the first time in the 2018 season at the Dayton Tournament. The Thundering Herd will face the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday at 5 p.m. from Baujan Field.
Marshall and Ohio State are both 1-1-0 to begin the year. This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Buckeyes hold a 5-4-1 advantage in the series. The last meeting came 18 years ago with a scoreless draw in Huntington.
The match will not have a video live stream, but fans can follow along with live stats.
The Herd is coming off a 3-2 loss to Oakland this past Monday night. Sophomore JP Rylah and freshman Gianni Bouzoukis both scored their first career goals for Marshall. Junior Jonas Westmeyer recorded two assists and sophomore Jamil Roberts added one as he and Westmeyer teamed up on the pass to Rylah. Three different players have scored for the Herd so far this season as Westmeyer scored the lone goal in Marshall's season-opening 1-0 win over Duquesne.
Redshirt junior Paulo Pita has played both matches in the net for Marshall and recorded the shutout against Duquesne.
The Buckeyes began the season with a 2-0 loss at home against the Furman Paladins. Ohio State bounced back with a 1-0 win over the Hofstra Pride. Redshirt junior Jake Scheper scored the lone goal in the victory. Fellow redshirt junior Parker Siegfried has started and played both matches in net for the Buckeyes. Siegfried has made six saves while allowing two goals.
Following Friday's match, Marshall returns to the pitch on Monday, Sept. 3 to take on the host team the Dayton Flyers. Kickoff from Baujan Field is set for 7 p.m.
