NORFOLK, Va. – The Marshall women's soccer team is back on the road for another Conference USA match at the Old Dominion Monarchs. Kickoff from the ODU soccer complex is set for Friday at 7 p.m.

The Thundering Herd enters the match with a record of 4-4-2 and 2-1-0 in C-USA play. The Monarchs come in at 3-5-2 overall and 0-2-0 in conference action. Fans can tune in to the match on CUSAtv.

"We're excited to play this weekend," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "We are looking build on a really successful weekend. ODU is a really well coached team that is able to be dangerous in many ways. We will be tested in every way Friday night. We will still be trying to develop consistency and success in both sides of the ball."

Marshall is 3-1-1 over its last five matches including two comeback victories. The Herd trailed at UTEP 1-0 in the second half until junior Marah Abu-Tayeh tied the match in the 78th minute and then provided the game-winner with just three minutes and 26 seconds left in the second overtime period. It was her first career game with two goals.

The Herd kept it going at home against FIU. The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead. This time junior Farah Abu-Tayeh provided the fireworks scoring twice in the second half, sandwiched around a successful penalty kick by senior Ashley Seltzer. The final goal by F. Abu-Tayeh came with less than seven minutes to go in regulation in very wet conditions. Freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Langley filled in for an injured Megan Bonelli in both contests and played well including five saves in the match at UTEP.

The Abu-Tayeh sisters are tied for the team lead in goals with five each. However, F. Abu-Tayeh leads in assists with four including assisting on three of M. Abu-Tayeh's goals. Marah was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after her two goal and one assist performance over the past week.

Old Dominion is looking for its first conference win after dropping matches to Louisiana Tech (3-2 OT) and Charlotte (3-0). The Monarchs have outscored the opposition 16-13. Morgan Hall and Kira Laurento have three goals each while Iris Achterhof, Amanda Nhek and Gaby Bentley have two each. Natalie Johnson leads the team with six assists and has scored one goal as well. Johnson also leads in points with eight. ODU has outshot its opponents 166-85 and 66-39 in shots on goal.

The Monarchs have used two different players in goal this season with Erin Davidson logging 719 minutes in eight matches and Jasmine Crawley playing 234 minutes in four matches. Davidson has 17 saves, allowed eight goals and has a record of 3-2-2. Crawley has eight saves, allowed five goals and has a record of 0-3-0.

This is just the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools. Marshall leads the series 3-0-1. The last meeting came in 2015 and was a 2-1 win by the Herd in the Conference USA Tournament that sent Marshall into the championship match.

The Herd stays on the road this weekend as the team will head south down to Charlotte for a match with the 49ers on Sunday, Sept. 30.
