Langley makes 11 saves in loss
DENTON, Texas – Marshall women's soccer (4-12-0, 2-6-0) falls in final game of its Texas roadtrip, 2-0, at North Texas on Sunday afternoon.
"It was a hard fought game," Marshall head coach Kevin Long said after the loss. "North Texas is proving why they are so hard to play against at home. We had chances throughout the game, but had a much tougher time connecting in the second half leading to fewer chances as the game wore on."
The two sides played a scoreless first half as Lindsay Langley made five saves in goal for the Herd. Farah Abu-Tayeh fired Marshall's only shot on target of the half, but it was saved by the UNT keeper.
The Mean Green's Natalie Newell was the first to score in the contest at the 48:37 mark in the second half.
MU's Gabby Powers fired a shot on goal four minutes, but shot was saved as the Herd still trailed 1-0.
Langley made saves on the next three shots, but North Texas added to its lead in the 78th minute on a goal by Berklee Peters with an assist from Newell.
Langley went on to save three more shots the rest of the way as Marshall fell in the match.
NOTES
Langley made 11 saves tying her season-high and marking the ninth time this season she has made six or more saves.
Marah Abu-Tayeh saw her six-game point streak come to an end.
UP NEXT
Marshall returns on the road to face Louisiana Tech on Sunday (Oct. 27) with first kick coming at 1 p.m. EST/Noon CST.
