Debell Named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Marshall volleyball redshirt junior Ciara Debell was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It is the second weekly award for Debell this season as she was last named Offensive Player of the week back on Sept. 9. Lauren Matthews of WKU was also honored as offensive player of the week.

"Ciara has been a driving force for us this entire season," Herd head coach Ari Aganus said. "The accolade is well deserved and I'm so proud of her and the consistent improvements she makes to her game. 20-plus kills per match against two great teams is a testament to her resilience and the hard work she puts in daily."

Debell put the team on her shoulders during a road trip back in her home state of Florida. She tallied 48 total kills in the two Marshall wins and added 21 digs and eight total blocks. Against the FIU Panthers, the Ocala native took over in the third set with the Herd trailing by two sets and trying to avoid being swept. She finished with 27 kills, a hitting percentage of .311, 13 digs and five total blocks including two solo rejections. Debell had just four attack errors in 74 total attacks. Marshall rallied to win in five sets.

Next, Debell led the Herd again in a five-set victory at FAU with 21 kills. She finished with a .347 hitting percentage, had one ace, eight digs and three more blocks. The victory over the Owls clinched a spot for Marshall in the Conference USA Tournament.

Debell increased her season total to 393 kills, an average of 4.18 per set. She is second on the team in digs with 238 and third in total blocks with 69. She has 830 kills over the last two seasons while playing for the Green & White and 916 in her collegiate career.

The Herd returns to the court on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m., for the regular season finale. The UAB Blazers visit the Cam Henderson Center for Senior Day.
