Marshall had eight top-three finishes
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Herd swimming and diving completed action at the West Virginia Games in Morgantown on Saturday with a second-place team finish with 1,036 points.
"We were really pleased with how the group responded this morning," Marshall head coach Ian Walsh said about the coaching staff's thoughts on day two of the meet. "Jordyn O'Dell and Catherine Bendziewicz did a great job with their individual races today. Our divers made some technical adjustments with Madison Young scoring fourth in the one-meter. We all stepped up as a team and saw positive results through that."
Jordyn O'Dell won the lone the event for the Herd on day of action in the 200-yard backstroke.
Marshall compiled five second place finishes by Catherine Bendziewicz in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual relay, Darby Coles in the 100-yard freestyle, the team of O'Dell, Bendziewicz, Coles and Hannah Robins in the 4x100-yard medley relay and O'Dell, Bendziewicz, Coles and Regan Raines in the 4x50-yard freestyle relay.
O'Dell also took third in the 100-yard butterfly, while Madison Young took fourth in the one-meter dive.
The Herd will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 8) in Toledo with meet against the Toledo and Florida Gulf Coast, before going to Bowling Green on Saturday (Nov. 9).
"We have another short week as we're back on the road against three very good programs. Our group is looking forward to the challenge," Walsh said.
