Â
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall baseball head coach Jeff Waggoner announced the 2020 spring schedule on Friday. The schedule features three power-five conference teams and four NCAA qualifiers, UNCW, Southern Miss, Florida and WVU, who hosted an NCAA regional.
Â
"Our schedule will be a great test for our program this season," Waggoner said about his team's schedule. "We look forward to this great challenge facing three power-five teams and four NCAA tournament qualifiers from last season."
Â
The Herd start the season at SEC-powerhouse Florida Gators Feb. 14-16. Marshall then heads to Wilmington for the second straight season and will face Butler, Bowling Green and UNCW two times during the tournament between Feb. 21-23.
Â
MU then comes home to host Canisius for four games (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) before going to Virginia Tech for a mid-week game on Mar. 4 and then hosting Akron the next weekend for games (Mar. 7-8).
Â
The Herd then go on the road to Ohio (Mar. 10) before beginning Conference USA play at Rice from Mar. 13-15. Marshall hosts Virginia Tech (Mar. 17) then it kicks off home conference action with the defending 2019 C-USA Champions Southern Miss Golden Eagles for a three-game set (Mar. 20-22).
Â
The rest of MU's non-conference mid-week games include home contests against Ohio (Mar. 24 and May 12), WVU (Mar. 25) and Morehead State (Mar. 31). The Herd will also have four remaining mid-week road contests against Radford (Apr. 1), Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 7), Morehead State (Apr. 14) and WVU (Apr. 21).
Â
The remainder of the Herd's road conference series are at UTSA (Mar. 27-29), at FIU (Apr. 17-19), at Middle Tennessee (May 1-3) and at Western Kentucky (May 14-16) with home series with Louisiana Tech (Apr. 3-5), Charlotte (Apr. 10-12), UAB (Apr. 24-26) and Old Dominion (May 8-10).
