Series History: 6th all-time meeting – Indiana State leads 4-1.
Last Meeting: November 7, 2018 in Huntington – Sycamores won 62-53.
After losing back-to-back games, Marshall bounced back with an 85-41 win over Alderson Broaddus. The game allowed for several players to get significant time on the floor as no one played more than 23 minutes. Sophomore Lorelei Roper saw her first action since suffering a knee injury back on March 2. Roper scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots. Freshmen Alexis Johnson and Paige Shy both put up season-highs in points with nine each. Shy also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Senior Ashley Saintigene continues to redirect shots at an astounding pace as she added five more in the win over the Battlers. Saintigene has 24 blocks this season in just seven games. She is sixth in the country in total blocks and fourth in blocks per game (3.43). The senior shot-blocker has 105 in her career and is seventh all-time in program history.
Redshirt senior Khadaijia Brooks grabbed six more rebounds against Alderson Broaddus, bringing her consecutive games streak with at least one board to 70-straight. Brooks had a 31-game streak going before a knee injury took out the end of the 2016-17 season and eliminated her 2017-18 season. Since coming back, she has been on the glass every game and has been one of the most reliable rebounders for the Herd, averaging 6.3 rebounds per game this season and 6.2 per contest since coming back from the injury.

The Indiana State Sycamores bring to the court an entirely new roster from the year before. The Sycamores boast a squad of 14 players made up entirely of freshmen and juniors with one sophomore. The five juniors and one sophomore all transferred from junior colleges. The game against Marshall will also be the first home game of the year for Indiana State after spending the first seven games on the road while the Hulman Center was being renovated.
Junior guard Lauryn Snipes has played against Marshall as she spent her freshman year at FIU and played twice against the Herd. She started in the first meeting on Jan. 7, 2018 and scored eight points in 27 minutes as FIU won, 67-54. Snipes came off the bench in the second meeting on Jan. 28, 2018 and had two rebounds in 10 minutes. She has yet to play this season.
Freshman Jasmine Elder is the only player averaging double-figures in points with 10.7. However, three more players are all close, averaging over eight points per game. As a team, Indiana State is scoring just over 62 points per game and allowing 67.6 to the opposition. LeAndra Echi, a JUCO transfer from Northwest Florida State College, has been the leader on the glass. Echi is pulling down 9.0 boards per game and already has three double-doubles in her first season at Division I.
The Sycamores have been winning the rebounding battle by 2.4 boards per game (39.7 to 37.3). Indiana State has been forced into 25 more turnovers than its competition.
After spending the first month on the road, the Sycamores will play four of its next five games at home.
