Kinsey leads Marshall with 18 points
DENTON, Texas – Herd men's basketball (13-11, 6-5 C-USA) couldn't get in a rhythm Thursday night as North Texas (20-4, 8-3 C-USA) took the contest in The Super Pit, 78-51.
Taevion Kinsey led the Herd with 18 points on a 7-of-13 shooting night, while grabbing five rebounds. Jannson Williams had a game-high four blocks and led the squad with six boards. Jarrod West led Marshall with a pair of steals as C.J. Burks had two assists.
It was a slow start for the Herd as after making one of its first three attempts from the field, Marshall missed its next 10 shots. However, the Herd made its first six free-throws and only trailed 14-8 at the 11:54 mark of the first half.
Marshall finished the rest of the half 7-of-20 from the field, as it trailed 36-26 at the intermission. The Herd shot 24.2 percent from the field in the opening half, the Mean Green put a 41.7 shooting percentage.
MU's struggles continued in the second half as the Herd shot 33.3 percent from the field and were outscored 42-25 in the second half.
Marshall went 5-of-24 from beyond the arc, while North Texas made 12 of its 28 three-point attempts.

- Jon Elmore is tied with UTEP's Julyan Stone for most assists in Conference USA history with 714.
- With 79 career blocks, Jannson Williams sits 14 all-time in program history.
- Jarrod West had a pair of steals in tonight's contest and broke a tie with Shawn Moore to move into 18th in program history with 114 career takeaways.
