FARMVILLE, Va. – The Marshall softball team lost to the Longwood Lancers, 13-1, in five innings Tuesday evening.
Â
The Thundering Herd fell to 21-10 overall and the Lancers improved to 18-11.
Â
Marshall struggled in the circle and on defense. Senior Abigail Tolbert started for Marshall and pitched into the second inning. Junior Kailee Williamson pitched the remainder of the second and into the third before senior Ali Burdette was brought in and tossed the final two innings.

The Herd scored first in the first inning. Junior Blakely Burch led off the game with a double and later scored on a single to right by sophomore Katie Adams.

Next up for Marshall is another midweek, non-conference slate at No. 20 James Madison. The single game against the Dukes is set for 4 p.m.
