Men’s Golf Completes Day One at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate

Round One Results
KANNAPOLIS, N.C – The Marshall men's golf team completed the first two rounds at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Club at Irish Creek.
Marshall sits in 16th place.
"Unfortunately today was a pretty good example of the inconsistency we have shown this year," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "We played really well in the morning and made a lot of birdies and held in there against a really strong field. In the afternoon, it felt like everything that could wrong did. We took way too many penalty strokes and did a very poor job of putting ourselves in position to score.
"We have to get rid of the silly mistakes if we want to compete for tournament wins. I am looking forward to seeing how we bounce back tomorrow morning. We have great kids and I expect them to bounce back tomorrow."
The UNC-Greensboro Spartans lead the team competition by one stroke after scoring an 11-under 557. Florida State is right behind with a 10-under 558. Bryce Hendrix of UNCG leads the field by five strokes after scoring an 11-under 131.
The third and final round is set to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
