Linder, Shapiro Named to 2019 C-USA Baseball All-Academic Team

This is the first time on the all-academic team for both student athletes

IRVING, Texas – Redshirt senior outfielder Tucker Linder and senior left-handed pitcher Joshua Shapiro were named to 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference-USA baseball all-academic team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
 
This is the first time for both student-athletes to be named to the all-academic team.
 
Linder has put together a slash line of .330/.373/.488, all third-best on the team, to go with 71 hits, second most on the team and fourth most C-USA, in a team-high 215 at bats. Had a 22-game hitting streak and on-base streak of 28 games. He's played and started in all 51 of the Herd's contests. Linder's 44 RBI are most on Marshall and tied for tenth most in the conference. Has made just two errors this season playing every game in left field, .980 fielding percentage. Linder has a 4.0 GPA in his master's program in Leadership Studies.
 
Shapiro has a team-leading 3.57 ERA, seventh-best in the conference, in a team-leading 72 IP this season with 68 strikeouts, both ninth-most in C-USA. His team-leading .232 opposing batting average, among qualifiers, is fifth best in Conference USA. He is tied for 10th in the conference with a team-leading five wins in 13 starts. Struck out a career-high 12 batters while allowing just three hits in a no-decision team-win over Louisiana Tech on Apr. 18. Shapiro has a 3.79 GPA and is majoring in Accounting.
 
Marshall will host Rice in the final conference series of the season beginning on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
