Women’s Soccer Drops C-USA Opener at Florida Atlantic

Herd falls to Owls
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Marshall women's soccer (2-6-0, 0-1-0) suffered a 4-0 defeat at Florida Atlantic (6-2-0, 1-0-0) on Thursday night in Boca Raton, Fla.
Marshall goalkeeper Lindsay Langley saved the first shot on goal of the game in the seventh minute. Farah Abu-Tayeh recorded a shot on target for the Herd at 14:16 in the first half, but it was saved.
Langley made another save on the next attempt by the Owls, but FAU then began to break down the Marshall defense.
The Owls scored three goals in a span of eight minutes between 23:47 and 31:47. Maddison Kristec got FAU on the board first, followed by a goal by Mary O'Hara at 25:57 and then Miracle Porter scored to make it a 3-0 deficit for MU.
Sammy Vitols scored the final goal of the contest just under five minutes into the second half for the Owls.
Langley made seven saves in the contest with Courtney McVicker making two in the final 16 minutes.
Langley has had six or more saves in five matches this season.
The Herd will be back in action Sunday (Sept. 22) with an afternoon tilt at Florida Gulf Coast.
