Women’s Golf Finishes Round One at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Marshall women's golf team completed round one of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Friday afternoon at the Big Blue Course.
The Thundering Herd is in 10th place.
"I saw good things today from each player and after the round we talked about those shots," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We worked on the things that needed a few changes to better prepare us for another round tomorrow. New day means new opportunities and another chance to improve."
Sophomore Jackie Schmidt is the Herd's current leader after scoring a 2-over 74 and is tied for 22nd. Schmidt got a birdie on No. 9, her last hole of the round. Sophomore Torren Kalaskey, in her first collegiate event, scored a birdie on her first hole of the day and then finished with a 5-over 77.
The Kentucky Wildcats lead its home event by two strokes over Penn State. The Wildcats finished with a team score of 3-under, 285. The Nittany Lions scored a 1-under 287. Mathilde Delavallade of Penn State and Carlota Palacios of Tulane are tied at the top of the leaderboard after scoring a 3-under 69.
