(RV) Men’s Soccer Back at Hoops Family Field to Face Dayton

Kickoff set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's soccer team is back at Hoops Family Field for two more matches before starting a long, six-match road swing. The Herd faces the Dayton Flyers on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
 
The Thundering Herd enters the match with a 6-1-1 record and were receiving 28 votes in the latest NCAA/United Soccer Coaches poll (Sept. 23) that put the squad at 29th overall. The next poll comes out Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers come in at 5-4 overall.

Marshall is coming off a dominating 4-1 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs, Friday night in Norfolk. Freshman Milo Yosef added two goals in the win, including the first one coming just 48 seconds into the match, and now leads the team with five goals for the year. Freshmen Joao Souza and Vitor Dias both scored their first career goals. Junior Jamil Roberts assisted on the first two goals and leads the team with five. Junior Pedro Dolabella and freshman Max Schneider assisted on the other two. Redshirt senior keeper Paulo Pita recorded five saves in the win. Pita now has 24 saves this season and 95 in his Marshall career. The keeper has a 0.97 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
 
The Herd has outscored the opposition 18-8, and holds the advantage in shots (108-79) and shots on goal (51-34). Ten different players have scored for Marshall this season.
 
Opponent
The Dayton Flyers have gone on a four-match winning streak after going through a 1-4 start to the season. During the winning streak Dayton defeated Detroit Mercy (5-0), No. 20 WVU (2-0), Northern Kentucky (3-0) and Massachusetts (2-0). The Flyers have combined to outscore its opponents 12-0 over the run.
 
Jonas Fjeldberg leads the team in scoring with five goals and Toluwalase Oladeinbo is second with four goals. Dayton has also scored 18 goals this season and allowed 10. Nine different players have scored for the Flyers. Federico Barrios has been the only one in the net this season and carries a 1.08 goals against average, 30 saves and a .750 save percentage.
 
Following the match, Marshall has one more home match against UAB on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The Herd then takes off on a six-match road swing at Charlotte (Oct. 12), Loyola Marymount (Oct. 15), San Diego State (Oct. 18), Wright State (Oct. 22), Florida Atlantic (Oct. 26) and finally at Oakland (Oct. 29).
