LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend Marshall came out on top 3-0 against Youngstown State on Aug. 30 and suffered a 4-1 loss to Ohio on Sept. 1. Jordan Sackaris scored the first two goals of the match against the Penguins and it was also her first time on the scoresheet since coming back from a season-ending injury last season. The first goal was assisted by Farah Abu-Tayeh, while the second was scored on a through ball from Rene Ross. Marah Abu-Tayeh took advantage of a giveaway by the YSU keeper and scored in the 74th minute. Lindsay Langley collected her first win and shutout at Marshall.

The Herd didn't fare as well in the contest with Ohio. The Bobcats led 1-0 at halftime and went up 2-0 in the 52nd minute on an own goal. However, M. Abu-Tayeh took a cross from F. Abu-Tayeh six minutes later to cut the deficit in half, but Ohio tallied a pair of goals just over a minute a part in the 64th and 65th minutes to win by the advantage of 4-1.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB
The Bisons are 2-2-0 and split a pair of road games last week defeating Jacksonville State (Aug. 30) 3-0 and falling at Chattanooga (Sept. 1) 1-0. Lipscomb scored all three of its goals against JSU in a span of eight minutes between the 10th and 18th. Olivia Doak, Kaitlin Echols and Hailey Eck each scored, while Maycie McKay had two assists with Cami Rogers adding another. The winner for Chattanooga came in the 44th minute of the Bisons' loss.

"We don't know much about Lipscomb, but coming off our weekend where we lacked consistency, we are hoping to bounce back and see a tremendous group effort from the Herd on Friday," Long commented on Friday's contest with the Bisons. "The team worked hard over the week in training and I would expect to see some differences in how we defend and create opportunities in attack."

Doak leads the squad with three goals, while McKay has a team-leading three assists.

SCOUTING VANDERBILT
The Commodores are 4-0-0 this season are coming off a road sweep of UC Irvine (Aug. 30) and No. 22 Pepperdine (Sept. 1) with 1-0 victories in each match. Haley Hopkins scored the lone goal for Vanderbilt against UC Irvine and buried the winner against Pepperdine in the 86th minute.

"Vandy brings a different challenge on Sunday," Long said about facing the ninth-ranked team in the country. "I love that they are nationally ranked and present a challenge that will surely compare to the best teams in our conference.  Both games present yet another opportunity to prepare for the challenges that the C-USA will bring in just a couple of weeks."

Hopkins leads the Commodores with six goals on 10 shots on goal, 17 total, through the first four contests. She was the 2018 SEC Freshman of the Year, was first-team all-conference and was named All-America third-team.

Paola Ellis has three goals on four shots, while Madison Ewell has a team-leading five assists.

VU was the 2018 SEC Regular Season Champions and were tabbed to finish third in its preseason conference poll.
