CONCORD, N.C. – Marshall's men's and women's cross country teams will run in the 2021 Conference USA Championships Saturday morning at Frank Liske Park in Concord.

"This is it … the beginning of championship season," said Caleb Bowen, Marshall's Assistant Coach for Cross Country. "Conference and regional championships are what we train for all year. The student-athletes are ready to roll. The course is in fantastic shape. The weather is going to be cool, so I expect some great races out of both squads tomorrow. It's time to be tough and show off our grit."
Last season, the women's team finished eighth out of 13 schools, its best team finish since 2016 with a point total of 181, which was the lowest in school history. The men's team finished eighth out of 11 programs with a total of 190 points.
Last year's meet was also the first time the Thundering Herd landed three runners on the All-Conference USA team (Kyleigh Edwards, Abby Herring, Jacob Birurakis) since 2016.
Edwards' 12th place finish last year earned her the best finish at the meet in school history, surpassing Marian Brooks' 13th place finish in 2006.
