No. 5 Men’s Soccer Back in Action at Florida Atlantic

Kickoff in Boca Raton set for Saturday at 7 p.m.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 5th-ranked Marshall men's soccer team is back on the road at the Florida Atlantic Owls. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
 
The Thundering Herd is 6-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in Conference USA. The Owls come in at 6-1-2 overall and 1-0-2 in league play.

Last Meeting: April 3, 2021 in Huntington – Marshall won 1-0, Joao Souza scored the game-winner in the 41st minute.
 
Marshall is coming off a 1-0 road victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sunday. Graduate student Pedro Dolabella scored the lone goal. It was his sixth of the season, and third of the week that helped net him Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
 
With the shutout in Norfolk, the Herd has four-straight clean sheets and five for the year. It is the first time that Marshall has earned at least four-straight shutouts since 2012 when the Herd started with five in-a-row. Last season, Marshall had three-straight clean sheets three different times.
 
Senior goalkeeper Oliver Semmle has allowed 10 goals and has 31 saves. His goals against average has dropped to 1.05 for the year and also has a .756 save percentage. Semmle is now tied for second all-time in program history with 15 shutouts.
 
Dolabella leads the team with six goals. Four of Dolabella's goals are game-winners and that ranks first in the nation. Dolabella is tied with senior Vinicius Fernandes for the team lead in total points with 16. Fernandes leads the Herd with six assists. Fellow senior Vitor Dias has four goals, five assists and 13 points. The three natives of Brazil have combined for 15 of Marshall's 23 goals.
 
The Herd has outshot the competition 113-93 and 58-45 on goal.
 
Following the match at Florida Atlantic, the Herd returns to Hoops Family Field on Oct. 16 to take on the UAB Blazers.
 
The Opponent
The Owls are off to a great start this season and have been lighting it up as well with 21 goals. FAU has yet to be shutout and have two clean sheets defensively. Florida Atlantic is coming off a 2-2 draw at South Carolina on Sunday. Ivan Mykhailenko scored the go-ahead goal in the 67th minute, however an own goal by the Owls tied the match in the 74th minute.
 
Filip Jauk leads the team in scoring with six goals and 12 total points. Mykhailenko is next with five goals and 10 points. Jose Alastuey has four goals and one assist. Luis Sailer Fidalgo is the leader in assists with six.
 
Neil Strauber has been the main keeper in the net for Florida Atlantic. He has logged just over 848 minutes and has only missed nine minutes and 28 seconds, coming at the end of the Jacksonville match. Strauber has allowed 11 goals, has 36 saves, a 1.17 goals against average and a .766 save percentage.
 
Following the match against the Herd, Florida Atlantic heads north for a match at Stetson on Oct. 12 before getting back in C-USA action at home against Charlotte on Oct. 16.
