FINAL RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Marshall's men's and women's cross country teams took part in the 2021 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Friday afternoon at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
The meet was hosted by Lehigh University.
The women ran to a program-best 20th overall team finish (537 points), narrowly losing a tiebreaker to Duquesne. The men finished 21st with 615 points.
Abby Herring led the Thundering Herd's women's contingent, once again, with a 54th-place finish in a time of 21:55.6 over the 6-kilometer course. Other Marshall finishers were: Kyleigh Edwards (93rd, 22:41.7), Sydney Smith (107th, 22:59.5), Julia Muller (131st, 23:24.3), Madelyn Garrison (155th, 23:51.1), Kalei Jordan (174th, 24:27.6) and Victoria Dotson (180th, 24:46.1).
Evan White paced the Marshall men with a 90th-place finish in 33:01.1, running the 10-kilometer course. He was joined in the results by Jacob Birurakis (123rd, 33:56.7), Jackson Snyder (127th, 34:02.1), Branden Wood (138th, 34:42.5), Paul Sepulveda (146th, 34:57.8), Brett Armbruster (159th, 35:38.2) and Kazuma Bowring (160th, 35:43.9).
"I'm proud of the kids for the season they had this year," said Caleb Bowen, Marshall's Assistant Coach for Cross Country. "For the women, it was the best season we've ever had and I don't think that trend is going down. For the men, with COVID-19 ruining two years, they needed a normal cross country season to get refocused and back into the swing of things. The future is so bright for both squads. "As for today, I think we could've done better on both sides but, overall, we're pumped about where these groups are headed. Next year, we are shooting for top 15 on both sides and I know we can do that."
Friday's competition will conclude Marshall's participation for the 2021 season.
