Marshall Baseball Unveils 2022 Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Baseball unveiled its 2022 schedule on Thursday. It features 12 contests against teams that made the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament, three power-five conference opponents and a West Coast Conference foe. All of MU's 2022 home slate will be played at the Kennedy Center YMCA.

"After losing so many games the last two seasons due to COVID-19, I'm happy to have a normal schedule in 2022," Marshall baseball head coach Jeff Waggoner said. "Our early non-conference weekends and midweek games will help prepare us for one of the best baseball conferences in the country."

The Herd opens the first two weekends in Port Charlotte, Fla., Feb. 18-20 and Feb. 25-27. It is scheduled to play Ohio State on Feb. 18, a double-header against BYU on Feb. 19 and Indiana State on Feb. 20 during the opening weekend.

The following weekend MU will take on St. Bonaventure in a pair of games, one on Feb. 25 and one on Feb. 27, with a double-header against Northeastern on Feb. 26. Northeastern and Indiana State made the NCAA Baseball Tournament Regionals in 2021.

The rest of Marshall's non-conference schedule includes a four-game home series against Oakland (Mar. 3-6) and a three-game set against Merrimack (Mar. 11-13) in Huntington.

MU will also play home-and-home series with Eastern Kentucky, Ohio, Morehead State, Virginia Tech and WVU with a lone road contest at Ohio State.

The Herd's non-conference road games will take place at EKU on Mar. 1, at Ohio on Mar. 16, in Morgantown against WVU on Mar. 23, at Virginia Tech on Apr. 5, in Columbus against Ohio State on Apr. 19 and at Morehead State on May 10.

The home games will be returned by EKU on Mar. 9, by WVU on Mar. 29, Ohio on Apr. 12, Virginia Tech on May 4 and Morehead State on May 17.

This year's Conference USA schedule returns to a 30-game format featuring 10 three-game series, five at home and five on the road. C-USA had four teams make the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament last season (Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion and Southern Miss). All four teams finished in the top-35 in RPI with ODU finishing 14th.

This year Marshall will travel to FIU (Mar. 18-20), UAB (Apr. 1-3), WKU (Apr. 22-24), UTSA (May 6-8) and to ODU (May 13-15).

MU plays host to Rice (Mar. 25-27), Middle Tennessee (Apr. 8-10), Louisiana Tech (Apr. 15-17), Charlotte (Apr. 29-May 1) and closes the regular season with FAU (May 19-21).

The 2022 C-USA Tournament is set to be played in Hattiesburg, Miss., from May 25 through May 29.
