Adebayo Named Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall track and field junior MaryAnn Adebayo has been named the Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Last weekend at the Marshall Classic, Adebayo won the weight throw with a season-best mark of 18.31 meters (60 feet, 1 inch), which is the best mark this season in Conference USA by over one foot.
In addition, she finished third in the shot put. Between her two events, she accounted for 15 points in team standings as part of the Thundering Herd's dominant win at the meet by 46.5 points over second place FIU.
Adebayo, a native of Hedgesville, West Virginia, has won the weight throw three times in her career and has twice been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and has received the C-USA Academic Medal once in her career.
She is the first Marshall field athlete to win a weekly award since Hasana Clark earned Field Athlete of the Week in February 2019.
Adebayo and the Herd track and field program returns to action Saturday to host the Marshall Invitational.
