HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd women's soccer (1-2, 0-1 C-USA) hits the road to take on Appalachian State Saturday afternoon in Boone, N.C. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. first kick.
HAVE YOU HEARD
MU fell in its last contest to Florida Atlantic at Hoops Family Field, 2-1, this past Friday (Mar. 5).
Morgan White tallied her first goal of the season 75 seconds into the contest on an assist by Iselin Noevik.
The Owls scored in the 69th minute to tie the game and the game winner came on an own goal by Marshall on attempted clearance a few minutes later.
Abi Hugh leads the Herd with a pair of goals and has fired all five of her shots on target this season.
Kat Gonzalez has fired a team-high seven shots.
Noevik and White each have one assist this season.
Goalkeeper Courtney McVicker has allowed just four goals in the team's first three contests, making 17 saves, and has a 1.29 goals against average.
The Green and White leads the all-time series with the Mountaineers, 2-0-1. The last meeting came on Sept. 13, 2005, with it being a 0-0 draw after a pair of overtimes.
SCOUTING APP STATE
The Mountaineers are 6-10-1 this season as they played in the fall in addition to the spring.
App State defeated ULM in the first round of the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championship, 2-1, in double overtime before falling to the West Division Champion Arkansas State Red Wolves, 1-0, in the second round.
In its two games this spring, App has fallen 7-0 to Tennessee and defeated Davidson 1-0.
Mary Perkins, Izzi Wood and Olivia Cohen have each scored two goals this season, as Perkins is also tied with a team-best two assists with Tess Cairney.
Cohen has a team-high 18 shots, while Cairney's nine on goal leads App State.
