Volleyball Draws UTEP in First Round of Conference USA Tournament

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall volleyball team earned the No. 3 seed in the east and will take on the No. 2 seed from the west, the UTEP Miners, in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament. The championships will be held in Hattiesburg, Miss., April 1-3.

First serve for Marshall and UTEP is scheduled for Thursday, April, at 3 p.m. eastern, 2 p.m. local time. All matches for the tournament will be streamed on ESPN+. The bracket as well as the schedule for the entire tournament can be found on the C-USA Tournament Central Page.

The Thundering Herd finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-4 and 8-4 in conference play. The Miners ended the 2021 regular at 9-6 and 8-4 in league play. UTEP also capped off the regular season with four-straight sweeps over Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss.

Second year head coach Ari Aganus has Marshall back in the postseason in back-to-back seasons. The Herd finished the 2019 season with 18-10 record and fell in the first round of the tournament to Florida Atlantic. Coach Aganus, now with 28 wins in her Herd tenure, has Marshall playing well and picking up steam before heading to Hattiesburg.

The Herd is on a four-match win streak and swept the Old Dominion Monarchs to close the regular season.
