WALLACE, N.C. – The Marshall women's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday, March 8-9, at the River Landing Classic. The two-day, three round event is hosted by UNC Wilmington and played at the River Landing Golf Course.
The course is a par-72, and 5,960 yards. Marshall tees off at 8:45 a.m. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
Competing for the Thundering Herd will be seniors Kerri Parks and Stormy Randazzo, junior Torren Kalaskey and sophomores Peyton Schaffer and Makena Rauch. Marshall was last on the course, Feb. 21-22 at the Strutter Gus Invitational. The Herd finished 12th, but saw great improvement in the final round. Parks led Marshall with a top 20 finish (T17th) as she dropped her score by nine strokes in the third round. Rauch saw the biggest improvement with an 11-stroke improvement.
The Herd is looking to carry that momentum on to the River Landing Classic. This was the very same tournament that was the final event of the 2020 season for Marshall back on March 9-10, right before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thirteen teams will be playing in the tournament. Along with Marshall will be Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina (No. 83 Golfstat Top 100), East Carolina (No. 72), East Tennessee State, Elon, Florida Atlantic (No. 81), High Point, James Madison, North Carolina A&T, Richmond, Rutgers, and the host school UNC Wilmington.
