Game One: Marshall 12, FIU 6
The Herd came out on fire in the first inning leading to a big win in game one of the twinbill. Marshall scored seven runs off six hits and two Panther errors to jump out to a 7-0 lead.

Junior Grace Chelemen got it started hitting the first pitch of the game for a single to right field. Senior Aly Harrell then reached on an error before senior Saige Pye got a base hit up the middle that scored Chelemen. Graduate Sierra Huerta then stepped up with a three-run home run to left to put the Herd up 4-0 with no outs. For Huerta, it was her sixth of the season and 24th of her Marshall career, good for 11th all-time.

Junior Mya Stevenson and senior Katie Adams kept it going with a double and a single, respectively. Senior Armani Brown loaded the bases with a walk. Two batters later, junior Camryn Michallas reached on an infield error that allowed Adams and Brown to score. Freshman Paige Halliwill was the last one to cross the plate in the first as the Herd went through 12 batters.

The Panthers scored one run in the bottom of the first inning before freshman Brianna McCown came on in relief and tallied back-to-back strikeouts to get of the jam.

Marshall added two more runs in the top of the fourth. Harrell led off with a double to right-center. Pye then reached on another FIU error that allowed junior Chloe Lee, who was in to run for Harrell, to score from second. Junior Rachel Pennington came in to run at first for Pye and later scored on a single down the right field line from freshman Kay Kay Kenney. Marshall led 9-1.

The Panthers added one more run in the bottom of the fourth and then McCown shut things down again with another strikeout. FIU scored three more runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to four at 9-5.

The Herd added one run in the sixth when senior Madison Whitaker drove home Stevenson with a double to left-center. Marshall's defense shut down FIU in the bottom of the frame with a 6-4-3 double play, before tacking on two more runs in the top of the seventh. Michallas scored first on a single into center from Harrell. Chelemen then crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Pye.

The Panthers scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the deficit to six but could not add any more as the Herd won 12-6.

McCown earned the win pitching five innings of relief effort, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out five. Senior Megan Stauffer pitched the final two innings and allowed one run off three hits.

Marshall's offense totaled 13 hits in the win. Pye was 3-of-4 with four RBI. Harrell and Stevenson both had two hits. Stevenson recorded two doubles for the second consecutive game. Chelemen scored two runs and Brown was walked twice.

Game Two: FIU 5, Marshall 2
The Herd's offense looked like it was going to get rolling again in game two on Saturday when Aly Harrell sent a line drive shot over the fence in center for a solo home run. It was her team-leading ninth of the season and 39th of her career as Harrell breaks her tie with Mya Stevenson for second all-time in program history. Marshall led 1-0.

The Herd scored one more run in the second off back-to-back doubles from Stevenson and Katie Adams as Adams plated Stevenson to give Marshall a 2-0 lead. From there, the Herd's offense could not find the timely hit.

FIU scored one run in the third and then one in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2. The Panthers then jumped ahead with three runs in the fifth and then held on for the victory.

Redshirt sophomore Cailey Joyce got the start in the circle and pitched into the fifth inning, before Megan Stauffer came on to finish the game. Joyce took the loss allowing nine hits and five runs. Stauffer did not allow a hit over the final 1.1 innings.

The Herd tallied eight hits in game two. Saige Pye, Stevenson and Adams had two hits each. Freshman Kat Sackett recorded her lone hit of the day to lead off the top of the seventh.
