Herd Women’s Soccer Travels to Charlotte for Tilt Against 49ers

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd women's soccer (3-5, 0-4 C-USA) heads to Charlotte for its final road contest of the regular season to take on the Charlotte 49ers (3-4, 3-1 C-USA) on Tuesday (Apr. 6) at 1 p.m.
HAVE YOU HEARD
Marshall defeated the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in its last contest on Mar. 28 7-1.
Freshman forward Abi Hugh tallied her first career hat trick with a trio of goals in the victory.
Senior forward Canaan Booton scored the first two goals of her career in the contest.
Freshman forward Sophie Aya-ay netted the first goal of her career in her Marshall debut.
Freshman goalkeeper Regan Meyer made the first start of her collegiate career and recorded her second win of the season.
Hugh now has a team-high seven goals this season, second most in Conference USA.
Sophomore forward Morgan White has four assists during the campaign to lead MU and is ranked in a tie for third in the conference.
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
The 49ers have a record of 3-4 this season with a 3-1 record in Conference USA action.
Charlotte's three wins came at home 3-1 over Old Dominion, a 1-0 victory at Middle Tennessee and a 3-1 triumph over FIU.
Julie Patrum and Michaella Arteta are tied for the team lead in points (eight), goals (three) and assists (two) as Patrum leads CLT in shots with 20, including 10 on target.
Sophie Sipprell is also tied with a team-high two assists.
Goalkeeper Abby Stapleton has played in all, but 45 minutes in net this season. Stapleton has made 31 saves allowing eight goals and posting a 1.22 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY
The CLT leads the all-time series 6-2-0.
