Successful Friday for Herd Track and Field at C-USA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Marshall track and field is through Friday at the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Middle Tennessee.
The Thundering Herd throwers gave Marshall a great start in the first completed event, the hammer. MaryAnn Adebayo finished just off the podium in fourth with a top throw of 55.38 meters (181 feet, 8 inches). Her finish earned Marshall five team points.
Brooke Burns earned one point with an eighth place finish and a personal record throw of 52.50m (172 ft. 3 in.). Her PR is now the fifth-best in school history.
Josie Moore also had a huge personal record with a top throw of 50.75m (166 ft. 6 in.). She finished ninth out of 23.
Torie Derrow earned one point in team standings as she completed the multi-event heptathlon. She finished eighth overall with a point total of 4,440.
Derrow entered the day in eighth place in the event, having competed in four of the seven events Thursday.
Kyleigh Edwards ran the fifth-fastest personal record in school history in the 10,000 meter run. She finished 14th with a time of 38:03.43.
Through three completed events, Marshall sits in sixth place with seven points.
Saturday will feature predominately preliminary events on the track as well as three field events for Marshall. Competition resumes at 2 p.m. EST.
