BLACKSBURG, Va. - Marshall Cross Country is set to start its season Wednesday at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
The meet will be on the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course with the women's race (4K) set to start at 6 p.m. The 6K men's race will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Herd will have a combined 20 athletes competing on Wednesday. The lineups are:

Women (13)
Abby Herring
Kyleigh Edwards
Meagan Ward
Sydney Smith
Tori Dotson

Julia Muller
Ciara Space
Erykah Christopher
Kalei Jordan
Cari Hively
Emma Vale
Haley Bolt
"We are excited to get started with this cross country season at Virginia Tech," said Caleb Bowen, Marshall's assistant coach for cross country. "It's looking to be a very competitive race on both sides. In the women's race, we will face three ranked Southeast region teams so we'll get a good test for what I think is our best-ever women's team."
"On the men's side, our freshmen get some valuable racing experience with the 6k distance. This will serve as a bridge between the 5k distance they raced in high school and the typical 8k distance you'll find in college. This will be a great opportunity for these younger guys to prove themselves."
Meet results will be provided through SnapTiming.
Liberty, Radford, Ferrum and Washington & Lee will also compete in Saturday's meet, in addition to the Thundering Herd and the host Hokies.
