Women’s Golf Finishes Day One of William & Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Marshall women's golf team finished the first two rounds of the William & Mary Invitational on Sunday, played at the Kingsmill Resort River Course.
The Herd is 13th out of 15 teams. As a team, Marshall improved its team score by eight strokes in the second round.
Senior Torren Kalaskey made a big jump from the first to the second round. Kalaskey finished round one with an 8-over 80, then shot an even-par 72 in the second. Kalaskey, who hit four birdies in the second round, moved up 26 places on the leaderboard and leads the Herd at tied for 37th. Her 72 was a collegiate career best.
Freshman Emily McLatchey also saw improvement from the first to the second round in her first collegiate action. McLatchey dropped her score by five strokes in the second round and moved up eight places on the leaderboard.
Senior Jackie Schmidt led the Herd in the first round with a 2-over 74. Fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo dropped her score by one stroke in second round.
James Madison leads after a team score of 2-under 574. The Dukes lead UNC Wilmington by five strokes. On the player leaderboard, Mallory Forbes of UNC Wilmington holds the lead by three strokes over Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic. Forbes scored an 8-under 136 through the two rounds.
