WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Marshall women's golf team completed the William & Mary Fall Invitational on Monday, played at the Kingsmill Resort River Course.
The Herd finished 13th out of 15 teams. Marshall returns to the course Sept. 21-22, at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by ECU.
"Overall, I saw a few good things from the team this week," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We have to stay consistently good in three rounds though. Jackie (Schmidt) really stepped up and played great today. Course setup was difficult and she played well."
Senior Jackie Schmidt led the Herd in the final round with a 1-over 73. After a double-bogey on No. 16, her second hole of the day, Schmidt bounced back with four birdies out of the next five holes. She improved her score by five strokes from round two and moved up eight places on the leaderboard to finish in the top 30.
Fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo saw steady improvement throughout the tournament. Sophomore Hanna Shrout dropped her score by two strokes in the third round.
James Madison pulled out the team win by one shot over Princeton. Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic finished atop the leaderboard with a four-stroke lead over Tiffany Kong of Princeton.
