Men’s Golf Tied for Second After Day One of River Run Collegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Marshall men's golf team is tied for second after the first two rounds of the River Run Collegiate on Monday. Fifth-year senior Noah Mullens is tied for third to lead the team.
The third and final round tees off at 8 a.m. Redshirt freshman Andrew Wyss, who is playing as an individual, will tee off first at 8 a.m. The rest of the Herd will begin at 9 a.m. All will start on the front-nine. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
"We showed a lot of character today," Herd head Matt Grobe said. "We made some mistakes but the guys bounced back quickly and really played pretty well. Noah (Mullens) and Tyler (Jones) are playing so well right now. It was great to see Ryan Bilby play so solid today in his first road trip with us."
Mullens began the day with 1-under 71 in the first round. He then shot a 3-under 69 in the second to move into the tie for third. Mullens finished the day with 11 total birdies. Junior Tyler Jones is tied for 10th after scoring a 1-over 144 through the two rounds. Jones finished with five birdies and eagled the par-5 No. 18 in the second round.
Freshman Ryan Bilby is in the top 20. He finished the day with six total birdies. Redshirt freshman Joseph Kalaskey improved his score by three shots in the second round and moved up five places on the leaderboard. Redshirt freshman Brett Montgomery bounced back with a five-stroke improvement in the second round including going 3-under over his final four holes. Montgomery scored an eagle on the par-5 No. 12. Wyss saw a three-stroke improvement in the second round and moved up five places on the leaderboard.
The Herd is tied with the host Davidson. Both teams trail Charlotte going into the final round. Matt Sharpstene of Charlotte has a one-stroke lead over his teammate Ben Woodruff at the top of the leaderboard. Mullens is just two shots back of Sharpstene.
