Baseball Adds Spagnola to Coaching Staff

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University baseball head coach Jeff Waggoner announced the addition of Robbie Spagnola as volunteer assistant coach on Wednesday.

"I'm excited to add Robbie to our staff," Waggoner said. "I have watched him as a player and a coach with the Amsterdam Mohawks. He brings a dynamic background being a manager at Kentucky. He assisted them with the modern methods of training and technology and helped with on the field teaching at Manhattan. Robbie is a tireless worker who brings a passion for player development."

Spagnola spent the past six months at Manhattan College as its volunteer assistant coach. During his stint with the Jaspers, he ran daily practice plans for the catchers, helped with the daily offensive practice plans and assisted with on-and-off-campus recruiting among other duties.

Spagnola was with the Kentucky Wildcats from 2019 to 2021 as an equipment manager before his time in Manhattan. He assisted the analytics team, developed scouting reports for the coaching staff in excel and helped with various other duties during his time in Lexington.

Spagnola spent the summers of 2019, 2020 and 2021 as an assistant coach with the Amsterdam Mohawks in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. During his stint with the Mohawks, he served as the third base coach and helped generate the starting lineup with the head coach. Spagnola was also responsible for positioning the defense. During the 2019 season, he assisted Amsterdam to a league title with a 39-13 record.

Spagnola graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in 2021 and received an associate degree in Individual Studies from Hudson Valley Community College in 2019. He played baseball at Hudson Valley CC for two seasons where he was an infielder and a pitcher.
