SERIES HISTORY

Saturday will be the third all-time meeting between the programs, with Marshall leading the series 2-0. This will be Marshall football's first trip to Harrisonburg, with the Herd defeating JMU twice in Huntington.

Coach George Chaump's Herd defeated JMU in the opening round of the I-AA playoffs in 1988, 41-12. The 1994 meeting in the postseason was closer, with Marshall winning 28-21 in overtime.

PRE-GAME NOTES

Marshall enters Saturday's game with a 3-3 record (0-2 Sun Belt). Head Coach Charles Huff's side is coming off a 23-13 loss to Louisiana last Wednesday. Sixth-year senior Khalan Laborn rushed for 120 yards with two touchdowns in the contest.

Laborn has ten touchdowns this season, and is already 149 yards shy of rushing for 1,000 yards. The Virginia Beach native is averaging 5.4 yards a carry in 2022.

Abraham Beauplan leads the defense with 45 total tackles across the first six weeks of the season.  The redshirt-senior from Boynton Beach, Florida had 1.5 tackles for loss last Wednesday against the Ragin' Cajuns.

ABOUT JMU

The Dukes (5-1, 3-1 Sun Belt) are led by WVU graduate Curt Cignetti, who has a record of 105-32 in his 12 seasons of coaching. Cignetti's first head coaching stop led him to Division II's IUP, where he built a 53-17 record across six seasons. After two seasons at Elon, Cignetti has led the Dukes into the FBS transition, compiling a 38-6 record for JMU in his four seasons in Harrisonburg.

Prior to falling for the first time last week, the Dukes were ranked #25 in the AP Poll, their first national ranking at the FBS level. JMU is still receiving votes, having gathered six tallies in this AP poll this week.

JMU enters Saturday's game on an eight game home winning streak at Bridgeforth Stadium. A capacity crowd is expected in the 24,877 seat stadium.
