PRE-MATCH NOTES
The Marshall Thundering Herd have qualified for the Sun Belt Tournament in their first season since joining the league. 2015 was the last time the Herd have been in a conference postseason tournament.
Marshall's run through the final month of the season propelled the team to the tournament berth. Positive results against tournament contestants JMU and Texas State helped Coach Michael Swan's side qualify for the postseason.
Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth finished the regular season fourth in the Sun Belt with her 4.25 saves per game.
Senior midfielder Kat Gonzalez finished the regular season as the league's leading shot taker (60). Gonzalez finished with 13 points for Marshall this season, winning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 24.
Senior Morgan White finished the regular season as the team's leading goal scorer with nine goals. The Cincinnati native scored two of her nine goals in Marshall's previous meeting with App State.
MARSHALL vs APP STATE
Marshall and App State will meet in the opening match of the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The Herd defeated the Mountaineers, 3-2 in Huntington on September 25. Courtney Corcoran scored the goal in addition to White's brace. Wolgemuth made four saves in the win for Marshall.
