PREGAME NOTES

The Marshall Thundering Herd opened its 2022-23 season with a 73-61 loss to Purdue last Thursday. The Herd were within three points of the Big Ten's Boilermakers, before the hosts closed the game on an 11-2 run over the final 4:59.

Junior guard Roshala Scott led the team with 20 points on 8-15 shooting. Scott is one of 10 newcomers to Coach Kemper's roster.

Graduate forward/center Shanniah Wright led Marshall with four rebounds last week against Purdue. The Georgetown transfer enters Tuesday's contest just one point away from 300 for her career.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS

West Virginia Wesleyan have not yet played in 2022-23, following a canceled game at Kentucky State last Friday. The Bobcats are coached by Marshall alum Brett Vincent (MU '91) who is entering his second season in Buckhannon. The veteran coach has an overall record of 209-189-1 across 15 seasons of coaching men's basketball, women's basketball, and softball.

WVWC returns nine players from last season, one of which is sophomore Courtney Wilfong, who averaged 11.9 points per game for the Bobcats last season.

Electra Allembert was the team's leader in rebounds last season, the sophomore returns having averaged 6.8 rebounds per game a season ago.

Wesleyan were picked to finish 11th in Division II's Mountain East Conference. The MEC features Glenville State, who are the defending DII Women's Basketball Champions.

SERIES HISTORY

Marshall leads the all-time series, 2-0. The Herd hosted the Bobcats in consecutive seasons in 2009-10 and 2010-11. MU won the first game, 73-41, and the second contest, 75-63.
