BIRMINGHAM, Al. – The Marshall track and field team stands seventh with 16 points after one day of competition at the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The meet is being held at the Crossplex in Birmingham.
MaryAnn Adebayo was Marshall's highest individual finisher on the day with a fourth-place showing in the weight throw (18.17 meters).
Macie Majoy led the team in the pole vault with a fifth-place height of 3.96 meters, matching her (then) school record mark from last season, that was broken by teammate Dianna Goodman (3.97 meters) at last weekend's Marshall Invitational. Goodman finished eighth Friday (3.86 meters).
Krista Perry recorded a seventh-place finish in the pentathlon with 3,441 points. She finished second in the event's 60 meter hurdles (8.84) and 800 meters (2:25.83), seventh in the shot put (9.82 meters), eighth in the long jump (5.15 meters) and 12th in the high jump (1.51 meters).
Maria Parra was 14th in the long jump (5.58 meters) and Abby Herring took 15th in the 5000 meters (17:50.86).
Marshall's distance medley relay team of Kylee Mastin, Erica Murphy, Astoria Beckett and Sydney Smith took fifth in a time of 11:56.25.
In preliminary action, Ashonti Warner (8.42 seconds) and Tyra Thomas (8.70) took second and fifth in the 60 meter hurdles to quality for tomorrow's final.
Mikah Alleyne (54.76) and Warner (55.1) ran second and third in the 400 meters to advance as well.
Herring also qualified for Saturday's final in the mile run with a sixth-place time of 4:56.80.
Victoria Dotson was the Thundering Herd's top finisher in the 800, in 18th, with a time of 2:24.20.
Day two of the championship continues Sunday with the high jump at noon ET/11 a.m. CT.
