Men’s Golf Back on the Links at Irish Creek Intercollegiate

Three-round, two-day event set for April 2-3
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – With a quick turnaround, the Marshall men's golf team is right back on the course April 2-3 at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, co-hosted by Charlotte and Davidson. The three-round, two-day tournament is played at The Club at Irish Creek.
The course is a par 71, with total yardage of 7,099. Tee times start at 8 a.m., and Marshall players will begin to tee off at 8:45 a.m. on No. 1. The teams will play two rounds on Saturday, April 2, and then one final round on Sunday, April 3. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
Competing for the Thundering Herd will be fifth-year senior Noah Mullens, senior Kyle Mitchell, junior Tyler Jones, redshirt freshmen Brett Montgomery and Joseph Kalaskey, and freshman Ryan Bilby.
The Herd is coming off playing at the Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate that finished on Wednesday. Marshall tied for fifth overall while Jones had a record-setting day in the third round. Jones shot a 10-under 62 to break the team record for lowest single-round score. Marshall Hall of Famer Linden Meade set the mark with a 10-under 63 at the Mid-American Conference Championships in 1958. Jones did not bogey a single hole and tied for the overall win with Zack Byers of Gardner-Webb.
Marshall is one of 15 teams competing at Irish Creek, including three teams ranked in the GolfStat Top 100 and two among the top 30. Along with the hosts (No. 27) Charlotte and Davidson the other schools are Appalachian State, Dartmouth, Dayton, East Carolina, Elon, High Point, (No. 95) Jacksonville, James Madison, Lipscomb, (No. 21) Ole Miss, Richmond and VCU.
