Clairotte takes her singles match
RICHMOND, Va. – Marshall Tennis (11-11) fell to No. 59 Virginia Commonwealth (15-5), 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Richmond, Virginia.

"Congrats to VCU," Marshall tennis head coach John Mercer said. "I was very impressed with how Gaby (Clairotte) was able to raise the level of her game after a tough first set. We look forward to a good week of practice and being back on our home courts for senior day on Saturday."

The Rams took the doubles point after winning on court three, 6-1, and court one, 6-3. The tandem of Madi Ballow and Sophia Hurrion on court two pushed VCU's Paola Diaz Delgado and Laura Astudillo to 5-5, but did not finish due the point being clinched.

The home side carried the momentum into the singles portion as they took the first four points. Gabriela Davidescu defeated Jutte Van Hansewyck on court four, 6-0, 6-2, with wins on court two and five following to clinch the dual. Liz Stefancic battled Nina Sorkin on court three, but ultimately fell, 7-5, 6-4.

Emma Vanderheyden jumped in front on court one. However, No. 77 ranked Delgado took the match, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7. Gabrielle Clairotte notched the lone Herd victory on the day, 4-6, 6-1, 10-6, defeating Shivani Manjanna.
