HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University women's soccer team welcomes the Appalachian State Mountaineers to Hoops Family Field on Sunday, September 25th. Kickoff is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.

PROMOTIONS

Blackout/water bottle giveaway! 

Fans are encouraged to wear black Marshall attire. In addition, the first 50 MU students will receive a free Marshall water bottle. 

PRE-MATCH NOTES

Freshman Bailey Fisher scored her first career goal for the Thundering Herd on Thursday. The Hurricane native set a WV single-season record by scoring 66 goals as a high school sophomore in 2019.

Sophomore Luiza Travassos converted from the penalty spot in the team's last contest at Arkansas State. Travassos now has three converted penalty kicks this season.  

Senior Morgan White remains tied for the league's lead in goals (6) and points (13). 

Junior Abi Hugh is second in the Sun Belt with four assists this season. Hugh has logged over an hour of match time in every contest this season.  

Marshall faces Appalachian State for the fifth time, leading the series 3-0-1. The Thundering Herd last faced the Mountaineers in the spring 2020-21 season, winning in Boone, 2-1. Hugh scored both MU goals in the match.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS

Leading App State is first year head coach Aimee Haywood, who joined the Mountaineers following a successful stint at Queens University (N.C.). 

App State were picked to finish tied for seventh in the Sun Belt East Preseason Poll.


Izzi Wood is the team's leading goal scorer with four. Wood also leads the team with eight points this season.


Shannon Studer leads the attack with two assists. Studer's late goal helped secure a 2-1 victory for App. State over Coastal Carolina on Thursday.


Goalkeeper Kerry Eagleston leads ASU keepers with 48 saves in 12 appearances this season.
