Kochan, McIlvaine both in top-10 after strong opening day effort
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Marshall's Women's Golf team is in fourth place following the first day of action at the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.
""I'm proud of the fight I saw today from everyone," Marshall Women's Golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We made a few errors but know we can do better tomorrow."
Olivia Kochan led the Thundering Herd through two rounds at +3, which is good enough for eighth place.
After an opening round 73, Kochan turned it up in the second round, finishing with an Even par 70 to ascend up the leaderboard.
Kochan was joined in the top-10 by Kasey McIlvaine, who also had an Even-par 70 in the second round to join Kochan and help Marshall move into the top-5 in the team scoring.
While Burkhammer was happy with the performance, she also knew that the team could perform better and expects such in the final round tomorrow.
"I'm excited to see them compete again and post a low score," Burkhammer said.
Tuesday's final round will get underway at 9 a.m.
