Curfman tallied 24 points in ‘Fans First’ contest

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team hosted its first of two 'Fans First' contests on Sunday defeating the UPike Bears 101-69 at the Cam Henderson Center.
"First half we looked like a new team, which we are with leadership changes," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said after the game. "We weren't ready to play and that's on them. It's a new team and there's a lot of feeling out process."
The Herd had a big second half against the Bears. Marshall tallied 70 points, making 26 of the team's 37 shots (70.3 percent), including 8-for-13 from three-point range.
Kamdyn Curfman led MU with 24 points, including 19 in the second half, on a 9-for-13 night from the field, making six of his nine attempts from behind the arc. Kevon Voyles followed with 20 points in his Herd debut, adding five rebounds and five assists to his stat line, tying Jacob Conner for the team high.
With 10 points and nine rebounds, Nate Martin nearly had a double-double in his first time in the 'Green and White.' Wyatt Fricks also dropped 10 points making five of his seven shots from the field.

Marshall is back in action for its final tune-up game before the 2023-24 regular season against Lees-McRae College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Henderson Center.
